Stands out with its vibrant, red-tinted leaves that are complemented by deep green edges, creating a bold and striking contrast. The bright red tones in the foliage give this plant a unique and decorative appearance, perfect for adding a pop of colour to indoor spaces. The glossy, broad leaves make 'China Red' a visually appealing choice, whether used as a centrepiece or a decorative accent. Like other Aglaonema varieties, it thrives in low to medium indirect light and is easy to care for, making it an excellent option for both novice and experienced plant enthusiasts looking to introduce vibrant, tropical hues to their home or office.

Native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, specifically South-east Asia, and can also be found in parts of New Guinea. In their natural environment, these plants thrive under the shade of forest canopies, making them well-adapted to low-light indoor conditions.

Tips for Planting and Care:

Light: Aglaonema prefers low to medium indirect light but can tolerate low-light conditions, making it ideal for dimly lit rooms or offices.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.
Humidity: This plant thrives in humid environments. Mist the leaves regularly or place a humidity tray nearby to boost the moisture in the air.
Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 18°C to 27°C (65°F to 80°F). Aglaonema is sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark to promote airflow around the roots.
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

Hardening from Tissue Culture

After receiving your Aglaonema in its tissue culture cup, it will require careful transitioning to its new environment:
Remove the Plant from the Cup: Gently remove the plant from the tissue culture medium. Rinse the roots thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove any remaining gel.
Acclimate to Open Air: Place the plant in a high-humidity environment such as a humidity dome or a sealed plastic bag. Gradually open the dome or bag over the course of 7 to 10 days to reduce humidity levels and allow the plant to adjust to normal room conditions.
Transplant: Once hardened, transplant the Aglaonema into a well-draining potting mix, making sure not to damage the delicate roots. Keep the plant in a warm, humid spot with indirect light as it continues to establish.
